I think it's nice for a first session, but I have only been playing a little more than 2 years myself.

Too much or too less steel? That's probably very subjective. Personally I think it's fine, but would be even finer if the leadvocals were just a tiny fraction lower in the mix (and not so dry).

It's always important to look at what job the steel actually has in the production. If it's not a particular steel-feature I think the levels and placement of the steel in your mix is just fine. Mastering will bring it a bit more forward too.
