I have a pretty nasty buzz happening in the pickup area whenever I hit an F sharp (any string)unplugged. It's not quite as bad when it's plugged in, but it still comes through the amp enough to be noticed. The buzz doesn't happen when I put my hand on top of the pickup. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance,
Patrick

Apparently your steel itself resonates more at that frequency.

To quote Jason Lollar from a previous thread:

quote:
some of them had a plastic core that almost always shrinks and seperates, some had a cardboard core, that can be rebuilt or sometimes a quick repair will do.

The other thing it could be is the metal cover. If you pull the plate on the body off the pickup is attached to it with two machine screws, there are two nuts under the body plate, tighten those down. there are supposed to be some lock washers under there to keep that from happening but I have seen quite a few where those were missing.

Dont overtigthen! The screws are welded to the top of the cover, you dont want to snap them off.

Take a flashlight and look between the coverplates to see if your oval is warped ... sometimes a "spot" of superglue will reattach it (did for mine) ... pressing it up with a butterknife.

If you can't resolve it via the superglue or by tightening the nut ... time to send it to www.lollarguitars.com

He's the best !!
