Another great clip from the past:

Hank Penny is singing the first verse, Carolina Cotton on Bass. Anyone know who the steel player is?

Kind Regards, Walter

Dick Roberts was the steel player on Penny's 1945 recording of "Missouri", but the band in the soundie may be his, Deuce's, or maybe some guys from Tex Williams?

I can't locate a picture of Dick Roberts right now to compare.

I have a picture of Dick Roberts somewhere and that looks like him.

I also have Dick Roberts' autograph, etched with a pen knife or engraving tool, on a fiddle given as a prize at a Spade Cooley Waltz Contest in 1942. Along with the rest of the band at that time.

This soundie is totally great, although I really prefer the recording of "Missouri" by Ozie Waters, accompanied by Andy Parker and the Plainsmen; it featured Joaquin.

That clip brought back a lot of memories. I played a lot with and for Billy Leibert and Hank Penny. Recordings with Leibert and Cliffie Stone. Live shows with my ole' buddy
Hank Penny. Thanks, Al
