Gene Watson and the Farewell Party Band, led by Corky Owens, played two shows in Weirsdale, FL today, Feb. 25. As you might expect, it was a fine country show. Gene was in great voice, and Corky Owens knocked it "out of the park" for the entire show.
Had a chance to exchange "howdies" with Corky, and to look over his Rains SD-10. Excellent looking and excellent sounding guitar. Corky went on to say that he had built that guitar, and that, when not on the road with GW, he enjoys working at the Rains guitar facility.
Super smooth playing by Corky, and he and the lead guitarist (sorry, didn't get his name) did some rapid-fire twin work that was worth the drive and the price of the show.
