I just recieved my first Gold Tone Lap steel.
I am very pleased with the fit and finish and sound of the instrument. Very Gibson looking with a nice hardshell case for 650.00
retail. Check them out.

I checked out the Gold Tone lap steel at Elderly Instruments last Saturday. I have to admit that it is IMHO an amazing sounding guitar.

The pickup is powerful and produces a very full rich tone. It's built like a tank and the fit and finish is top notch. The one negative I found is the placement of the fretboard inlays. Gold Tone did not use the standard 3,5 7, 9 12 arrangement. They added an inlay at the second fret. While this may look balanced from an aesthetic view, it may throw some people off.

I have had my Goldtone lap steel for over a year now. I love it. I bought it as a back up to my Oahu Tonemaster. It is a great instrument. Great tone.

Chuck -- Forgive me for raining on your parade, but the price you paid seems extraordinarily high ...

Elderly doesn't show the retail price on their web site, but they say the combined list price of the guitar and case are only $531.

I really like my Gold Tone w/ 24.5" scale although I prefer short scale instruments . The pickup sounds good but has a pretty bright sound at the very treble end of the spectrum. My only gripe. I removed the snazzy p/up cover as it was getting in the way of my right hand picking. A great starter instrument that is affordable thanks to the Gold Tone people.

Russ
Your exactly right. I miss read my invoice
and this being the first product from Gold Tone I've recieved I spoke too soon. I also
recieved banjos on the first order. Really great quality and resonably priced.

Gerald you are so right about the inlay. Why
would they do that? David I have both resos
on the way. I saw a prototype and was knocked
out with the look and sound.

Chuck,

The placement of the fretboard inlays mimics those of the Oahu Tonemaster which is the guitar they were copying.
