I've noticed that when some newbies make their first posting on the forum they state that they've been "lurking" around the website for a few months, or even, in some cases, a year or two before joining.
What length of "lurk" can YOU plead guilty to ?
I'll start the ball rolling with admitting to a fairly minor lurk of less than a couple of months . . .
Next . . . ? ?

I signed up as soon as I found it. This is probably the second greatest thing for the steel guitar world since pedals were invented. Probably the greatest thing was Scotty starting the Steel Guitar Conventions. b0b definitely needs to be in the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.

I don't know if I "lurked" or not. I read the forum a lot after I started playing steel and joined the forum in June of the year 2000, which was six years ago, so I've been a forum member for six years. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10

About a month.
The forum influenced me to dedicate my practice time exclusively to steel, and not other instruments. It's certainly more rewarding.

It's coming up on a year next month that I first 'caught-on' to this site. About a week later, the check went out. But, before that, I was Internet Challenged/Retarded for many years.. a virtual outsider. My son's cast-off desk top brought home from work to take a course with, was the ticket; what a journey it continues to be. Nonstop. Plus it helped me at work, since we use laptops for diagnostic tools, and I really needed to get 'on the bubble'.
In appreciation of that auspicious moment of edification last year, I will send along a small token of esteem to b0b next month. Hopefully, he'll get a kick out of it. I sure have from this site. ~JZ~

I found the forum as a by-product of an ebay auction gone sideways and transformed into an educational seminar. As soon as I had clearance I jumped in with both feet.

It's safe to say that this forum has done more for my life as a steel picker than I was able to do for myself in thirty years.

I told my wife about it a year ago and she said well why don't you join. I said well it cost $5.00 and I'll do it some day.

She sent the money in and told me she had done it for me because I am the worlds worst at doing things like that so here I am.

I basically found the forum by searching for psg. related stuff on the web.
I paid the fee, and posted the first time as soon as b0b cleared me.

For me it was about 2 years. Why so long I don't know? This is a great Forum, and I would like to thank all members who have posted info or comments on all aspects of the steel guitar, I have learned a lot... Thanks again .
