Have a look at this page,

I just received this bar yesterday from a chap in Australia. It has glass fused over the metal at the bottom. It's difficult to see in the small picture, but there is a straight line if you look closely, and that's the top edge of the glass. Has anybody seen this before? Maybe it's as common as sin, but I haven't seen one.

Before Keoki Lake throws a dagger at my spelling, it should read "fused", not "gused"!!!!! Geo |

I THINK I see what you are referring to, but I'm not sure what the point is. A stevens style bar with a glass coating, is that it? Smoother, quieter bar? Is that right?
How's it sound? |

Chris, I sent the picture a bit larger to you directly, as the pic hosting site has rather small pics.
To answer your question on the Forum, it sounds not as bright as a metal bar, but brighter than a plastic bar.
I was just wondering if anybody has seen a bar like this before. I have a small collection of old bars and this was the latest addition. It's not the shape of a Stevens bar, this is like the old flat bars of the 40's, but just a bit thicker. It has a metal lip proturding out the bottom onto which the glass which has a U shape cut into it, fits over the lip and is fused to it.

George - I got your email. Thank you! It's a little clearer in that picture. A very interesting bar, to be sure. |

.......I dunno 'bout that. I've heard that people who drink in glass bars shouldn't throw bottles!!!!(or something like that)!!! Hey Ray, maybe where you were, it was a mirrored ceiling. Anyway, I'm happy with the glass bottomed bar addition to my collection of tone bars. Geo |

I told that guy not to export our Hawaiian national treasures to the Northern hemisphere. Some people just don't listen!

Hello Terry & Graham: I've been away for a couple of days, and just reviewing the SGF. Graham, do you know my buddy in Ballarat?!!!!
Terry, I think this is just an odd one my buddy had, that's the feeling I got anyway, I've never seen another one.!!!!
I have a small collection of older bars, they seem to be harder and harder to find these days.
