Put a deposit down on a new Millennium. I saw Lonnie Bennet's new burgandy and black sumburst one at the Mesa show, and knew it was time to take the plunge.

Lonnie's guitar is the most elegant steel guitar I've ever seen. I ordered mine in the exact same color scheme.

I won't receive the guitar till July. It's gonna be a long 4 months.

Mike,
I hope the folks at MSA skip as much money you'll have to pay for that guitar as you skipped for the time you'll have to wait for it. That would be about one third!

Let's see. It's January right now, so, yes, it will be a very long 4 months indeed!

My bad. I'll get the guitar in June, not July.

Donny, Reece has agreed to send me a variety of pickups so I can pick and choose which one(s) I prefer.

As I mentioned, my guitar will look exactly like Lonnie's (except that he has a cross on his and mine will be unadorned.) I hope he posts a picture soon. Lonnie's guitar is breathtakingly beautiful. I've always felt for some time that regardless of it's other qualities, the Millenium was not as pretty as a beautifully grained wood cabinet, but this one is just drop dead gorgeous.

Jealous I found out is the wrong word to use in this case.
Envious of your good fortune better describes it.
Happy and excited for you is the spirit of this forum.
I still have not told my guitar about the Millenium.
Iam still angry at Reece for making my guitar almost indestructible and then making one that makes me salivate so much I need a canoe.
I am going to want to see pictures!!!

Cool beans, Mike!

Those Milleniums have to be some of the ultimate steel guitars.

Whether it's 4 months or 6 months, depending on how one approaches math-look at it this way: you could be ordering a Scheerhorn resonator guitar, and the wait right now is FOUR YEARS!

I'll also say welcome to the Millenium club, I figured you'd be hooked after you saw one up close. I must agree that Lonnie's guitar was really pretty, and sounded really good.

I enjoyed visiting with you in Mesa, I'm sure we'll cross paths again at one of these shows.

In spite of loving real wood, and hating formica.
I have one of each.

I also think the Milleniums look great.
But equaly important feel great AND sound great too.

Mike you're gonna love it,
but the wait is gonna be un-nerving for sure.
Bon chance.

Darwin, it was nice meeting you too. Your entheusiasm for your guitar is one of the things that made me decide to get one.

David, I too already have one wood body and one mica and while I wouldn't say I hate the mica guitar, I prefer the wood body.

Another reaszon I bought the guitar was the imterchangabe pickups. My mica MSA has been retrofitted with the Sierra system, and I think it's a huge advantage. I'd like to see every builder incorporate this feature into their guitars.

It's not about having a lot of different pickups, it about trying out a lot of different pickups and choosing the one(s) that you like the most.

I'll be playing in Dallas over April & May - perhaps I can visit MSA and see your guitar during the gestation period.

That color isn't burgundy, Mike. It's more like merlot. You gotta come up here for a wine tour.

I disagree. Having a lot of different pickups and picking the right one for the song is way cool, IMHO. It's a great feature for anyone who has to switch between a variety of styles.

Bobby, if I played in a band like you, I'd probably agree, but I intend to play classical music (except at steel shows) where I won't really need that kind of versitility. I do want one single coil and one humbucker though, just in case the single coil creates too much noise.

I have a George L 5 position pickup on my wood steel, and occasionally use the out of phase sound on recordings. I'll probably have the George L people make me a pickup wired for that sound.

As far as wine tasting goes, well, don't you know I'm a poster boy for living clean and sober ? ,)

Gee, I COULD have gotten the mandolin in the same colors as the new steel. If I had known....

I think Rigel http://www.rigelmandolin.com/ makes some of the best mandolins on the planet. Even though I have the bottom of the line, it's still simply exquisite, and IMHO, vastly superior to my former Gibson. It is the mandolin equivelent of the Millennium.

I can't believe I (will) have 2 of the finest instruments in the world.

God is definately smiling on me these days.
