Charles,

DON'T click on it, it's a scam. Run your cursor over the link and see what URL comes up at the bottom of your screen. Chances are it isn't paypal.com, it's a bastardization of the domain name.

Charles, DON'T click on any links in the email, just forward it to spoof@paypal.com and forget you ever received it.

Thanks guys, I just deleted the thing. If Paypal was going to close my acct I would just use another form of payment, no big deal. It's a shame that this sort of stuff goes on.

IF PAYPAL does not address you by NAME..and ask you to go to the website and LOG IN..

it is FRAUD !!!!

Every EMAIL you get from them that is legit will start with

dear..( insert name here )

pretty simple

they are not going to cancel your account..but someone is willing to clean it out if you give them the chance...

I get these EMAILS everyday, the problem is they send them to an email account that is not even registered with PAYPAL...

don't fret over this stuff..just delete them...

Sorry Steinar, I got your message too late, maybe someone else will forward theirs and Paypal can do something.

Charles, I'm sure PayPal gets several hundreds of them every day, if not thousands, so it's no problem. I don't know if there's so much they can do about it anyway, but they recommend forwarding these phishing mails to the "spoof" address, so I usually do that.

got that this morning as well...they must send out batches of em all at once.

What is mind boggling to me is why the authorities cannot simply trace the IP addresses of these scmammers and round em up for some blue collar prison time????

I get them daily from Phishers of Ebay and Paypal. I forward them all to spoof, but they keep coming.
I doubt anything other than a message from Ebay or Paypal that anything is done about them.

Don't just delete them.

The only way they can work to stop the stuff is to know about it. Forward them all to either spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com (either one - it's the same company).

They have an entire department that works with law enforcement tracking the phishers down.

Just deleting is easy, but it isn't real helpful.
