Hey!
I'm a newbie to the forum! It's exciting already. So much talent. I'm open for your questions...if you have any...and i'm open to pointers; I'm young and what you would call a 'beginner'. Been at it for about a year and a half.
Thanks!

I'm doing the country thing. But I get really picky with my music. I'm only interested in playing mostly 1950's and pre-1970 stuff. As far as I'm concerned (I know I'm going to be assassinated by every other steel player for this), thats the only country music worth pursuing.
Thanx!

Tim.....you wont get assassinated here by any steel players for your preferences....sure we all like the early Buck Owens stuff with lots of Ralph Mooney or Tom Brumley....George Jones or Hag Stuff........but there is still stuff being recorded today with steel in it.....just not as much.
Keep an open mind...and you are in the right place to get a lot of help........just ask the Question and you will get a heap of replies

Tim, I would never assinate another steel player. Now I might on a guitar player but never a steel player. Just kidding, I do agree with you about the older country music. The music today just does not appeal to me personally. Give me some Conway, Loretta, Tammy, Merle and some of the older stars and I will be just fine. |

Welcome Tim!
You'll learn alot if you have an open mind to music, even todays Country. You're missing alot of amazing steel work. You need to listen to "Your Man" by Josh Turner. Steve Hinson knocks me out on that one! |

The only way you'll get assinated around here is if you tell them you're hot into the Robert Randolph style. Further, that you intend to incorporate that style and sound into classic country music.
Yep that would just about do it.
Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum, Tim.
This is a very diverse forum so you can expect a broad spectrum of tastes - from country to ...uh...well....country! (just kidding the country crowd!)
So you like classic country - you're in the right place!

Welcome Tim!
Yep, 50s and 60s - that's when the good stuff was happening.
40s too . .
Is your D-8 a Dual Pro or a Stringmaster?

Thanks everyone for that warm welcome!
To answer your questions
I live in Andover, Kansas, just east of Wichita.
My guitar is neither a dual pro or a stringmaster. Both of those would be great though! It's a Fender 1000 Pedal Steel. Well, just two pedals really I disconnected the other 6.
Later!
