New Years Eve at Billy Bob's was too much fun. Imagine 6000 plus people all jammed into one big nightclub screaming and singing along with Kevin Fowler and that's the kind of time it was. I'm not sure how well known Kevin is outside Texas but I want everyone to know he puts on one heck of a show.

Cross Canadian Ragweed played Thursday night packing the house but in my opinion have nowhere near the energy or show that Kevin Fowler has.

Ok now the good part. I had mentioned in another post how it would be a big treat to meet Arty Passes who plays steel with Kevin and I wasn't let down.

Arty took the time to come find me and introduce himself just before we went on and I have to say, is one heck of a nice guy who is very down to earth and easy to talk to.

The soundman had him in the mix although my only complaint was the fiddle and lead player need to chill and let him take more rides.I don't know what year Arty's Emmons is but it sounded very good out front and he is one fine player.

Good luck and maybe we will cross paths down the road soon.

Hey Dick -
Nice to meet you the other night, and thanks for the kind words. That crowd was amazing, and it's very cool to see how far Kevin has come since we were playing to a handful of friends in downtown Austin on Tuesday nights just a few years ago.

I enjoyed your playing, too, and great sounding rig, but I always have the same complaint as you: MORE STEEL!!!!

And thanks for another first for me: a thread on the forum with my name in it!
Not bad for a video guy posing as a professional steel player!

Happy New Year, and hope to run into you again soon, and go easy on them criminals up there in North Texas.....

Arty

Howdy fellers. Hey Arty, I heard you boys doing a sound check when ya'll played in Addison back on the Texas-OU party. It was an outside gig. Not sure if you remember it or not. Anyway, I was one of the fire inspectors that was there during sound check making sure nothing was gonna burn the place down. I was going to come say hello, but I didn't want to interupt. I had to move on before ya'll got done. You boys sounded pretty dang good during sound check. I was wanting to hang around and hear you, but I had a gig on the other side of town that night. Hopefully we'll catch ya'll down the road soon. We just signed with Palo Duro Records and our first CD gets released this spring. Maybe we can get on some the big stages with you and Kevin.

Dick, I've heard your band too.....not bad.
