Just wondering what type of thumb picks some of you like the best.
Up until about a month ago I'd been using a Dunlap (M) that's when I had broke my last one of that type. Now I'm using a National (S). It has a thinner & pointier picking edge which I really like. This pick feels good to me so I went and bought (5) more. I think I'll stick with this type for awhile. I even notice it's seems to help on some of the licks I play. NR

I use those trusty old blue Herco thumbpicks. I file 'em to a point for a sharper tone on the bass strings. The last time I was at Billy Cooper's store he had some red picks which were just like the Herco's so I bought about 6 of those! I use 'em for both steel & guitar and they never break and always deliver the goods....JH in Va.

Dunlop medium on my thumb.
.0225 on the fingers, way more comfortable than National.

I use Zookies with the blade on a bit of an angle - I used to grind the edge off conventional picks after a while so the Zookie works for me.

I'm loving what the GeorgeL's thumbpicks are doing for me. They only come in one size... Black with red writing. And JF picks for my fangers. Cheap, comfortable, good tone.

My grandson broke my favorite thumb pick a few years ago. I looked around for a replacement and settled on a composite thumbpick from Frenchy's in Belen, New Mexico. It is a white pick with some tortoise shell stuck to the picking area. I really like a good substantial thumb pick and this one serves the purpose extremely well.

Right now , i'm using a stubby looking orange pick i got from Wally's in Hamburg, Pa., but aside from that my favorite all around thumb pick is John Pearse. Give one to an experinced steeler friend of mine a nd a few days later, he called and asked how to get them and proceeded to order them direct from Breezy Hill Music. Hard to beat.

I've been using Golden Gate thumb picks for about 2 years. Prior to that I used the old Blue Herco thumbpicks.

Surprisingly (and I bought them on a whim a few years ago), Peavey's thumb picks fit me the most comfortable.

I use the blue Herco thumbpicks. The only complaint I have is that when they heat up a bit from body heat, they don't fit as tightly as I'd like. I usually keep 2 or 3 in between the necks, and grab another when one seems to be a little too limber.

I gotta agree with you Al. Those balck Peavy thumbpicks are really comfortable. They also come in white but I think they are smaller. I buy them from Bobbe. jc

White plastic ones that fit. I have big thumbs, and most are really uncomfortable. I have to go through bins of 20 or so to find ONE stinking pick that works.

I’ve been using Dunlop .025 finger~picks for years. (Thinking of dropping to .020) And for a thumb~pick, I’ve been using the White Dunlop – L for quite a while. It seems to remain a snug~fit, w/o slipping!

I was going through my big pile of stuff the other day and found an old metal thumbpick, almost tossed it,on a whim I tried it,what a surprise,I play about 98% C6th, I discovered I got more bite and clarity on my 4 or 5 bottom strings than I ever have, also this pick is easy to shape to fit. This may not work for any one else, but it's the one for me.Now if I could do away with the finger picks like Mr.Seymore,I would be a happy camper.

Orange or yellow Fred Kelly Slick Picks. In a pinch, Fender Confetti mediums. I like the old National mediums also, but I'm down to a handful, and they're geting hard to find.
