Just got the DVD of Coal Miner's Daughter. Does anyone know who's playing steel on the songs in that movie?
(2) Anyone know where I can look (online?) at some "steel guitar" belt buckles and T shirts? Thanks!

As I recall, it was Bob Hempker who played the steeler in Loretta's band.

For t-shirts, Bobbe Seymour (at Steel Guitar Nashville) is a pretty good source!

Wayne Link (at Linkon Guitars) sells the only belt-buckle that I know of right now.

In the movie there is a brief moment where you see just a bit of Hal Rugg in the studio part at Zero records.

Lynn Owlsley is the steel player in the scene of the movie where Loretta first performs at the Grand Ole Opry and the scene where she performs on the Midnite Jamboree, singing Patsy Cline's song "I Fall To Pieces". Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10

I played on most of the sound track. Hal Rugg did part of it, also.
