Anybody know who's playing steel on the Marty Stuart recording of Red Red Wine? There is a nice steel ride at the end of the song. |

Billy, I think that was the late & great, Gary Hogue. The Texas guys can tell you if it was him for sure. Great song! Ray

Walter, I beat you by a minute! By the way, thanks for all the Lloyd Green info and sounds. I can't play like him but I sure wish I could. If you get a chance, go to my website and there's a pic of me with him.

Didn't Roy Drusky have a version of this song? Was it the original? |

Rent the Billy Bob Thorton DVD "Daddy and Them" to hear a great soundtrack featuring Gary Hogue's Steel and Marty's Mandolin.
The movie is a bit strange, but what great music. |

Yes, Barry, Roy Drusky did it years ago. It was a favorite of mine. I'll have to listen to Mart's version when I can.

I think you are talking about two different songs. "Red, Red Wine and Cheatin' Songs" was written by Marty for the concept album "The Pilgrim".
The other one is the Whitey Shafer song "Warm Red Wine", also a great song!
Kind Regards, Walter
