Tonight was the first time I broke a new 3rd string while installing(my fault). It cut my ring finger and scratched my index pretty good.

Then I stood up and scratched the s..t out of the back of my leg, 'cause I didn't have my seat top latched!

Usually I burn myself with a solder gun, or jam a string end under my fingernail, but tonight was my first blood given to the steel! JimP

Everytime I popped a 3rd it would go right into the lead players leg. He finally switched sides with me because he was becoming spooked all the time.

Just wait until you're ready to get out of a gig and are rushing because you're tired. Pick that pack seat up by the handle, and as it flips over so you can carry it, you realize that you forgot to latch the lid down! You then spend the next 5 minutes picking up everything that was in your pack seat.

Another good way to tell you're a seasoned veteran is popping a third string on the intro to some song, and having a new one up to pitch and playing on it before the last note of that same song is playing.

I just can't wait til these things happen to me.
I finally got a cut after putting on three .009 strings to try and get a G# on top... blood; cool! More freshman foolishness than real steelerism.

Jim.. you're gettin' close, but you aren't a "real" steeler until an .011 gets you across the face,or at the least slices your palm open...don't worry, you'll be there soon enough!...bob

Jeepers Jim, maybe you should have your wife change those strings for you, or perhaps a trusted friend. Your gonna need the 'steel guitar rag' to wipe up all the blood around there!!

Jim, you ain't made it to the top yet. Wait til you get old and start getting leg cramps. When that becomes a problem, start drinking tonic water. It contains quinine which relieves leg cramps. Seriously, it is a doctor recommended treatment and it works.
Another solution from Scotty is: switch to lap steel, hahahaha. (I wonder if Scotty gets lap cramps?)

True Story--I went to the doctor one time for a check up and he came in the room and asked how are you today? I said well doc, my hair is gone, my eyes are bad, my hips are gone, and so are the knees, my teeth are also gone, and my arthritis is bothering me a lot, outside of that I feel pretty good today. Smile
He never asked me that question again. HA!

Ya'll can leave out the parts about the hair!!!

The worst part about popping .o11's is the looks I get from the crowd when I turn my steel upside down and start shaking that string eye out of my changer,, sometimes rest of the band looks at me a little strange to, but hey what ever it takes.. LOL..

If I'm lucky I can still make it for the outro..

Jim, if you realy want to draw some blood, see what happens if you mistakenly use an .014 string for the 3rd. After it gets to G#, it should only take about 3 pedal "mashes" to pop.
