I was playing a show in Dallas last week and met a gentleman that works for Buddy magazine. Over the course of the conversation I asked him why there wasn't a "steel" section in the Texas Tornados list. He told me that no one had really brought it up before, but he would propose it if I could come up with a list with bios of players I think they should consider.
My question is: Is this worth the time? Does anyone really care about this list?
I've only got about 5 years invested in steel so I am in no place to send him a list of players that should be considered. but, if anyone in interested you can send me your suggestions and I will forward them on.
thanks,
Todd |

Todd, we have great players here in Texas to be proud of. Jr. Knight, Milo, Gary Carpenter, Dicky Overby, Corky (works with Gene Watson), Danny Naccarato (works with Janie Frickie) and others and, in Austin and Houston, there's a whole multifarous of great pickers that are admired by us formites and a marjority of them worked for big name artists. |

To add to Ted's list:
Ralph Mooney, Maurice Anderson, Lloyd Maines, Steve Palousek, Jim Loessberg, and Ricky Davis have all played, or are playing currently with big name artists. There's probably many more.

Don't forget my friend Herb Steiner, he's played with about everybody and is a walking steel guitar encyclopedia.

Well, I shur ain't no Texan, but it might help if you told the folks exactly what "Buddy magazine" is, and what this "Texas Tornado's list" is all about! I'm sure there's other people besides me who don't have the faintest idea what you're talkin' about~ |
