My guess would be Julian Tharpe and Reese Anderson. Logical choices right?

Hey Bill, I'll have to agree with you! That's the only "LOGICAL" choices out there in my opinion.....JH in Va.

In all honesty, b0b has already overproven his qualifications to HOF membership simply by the impact this forum has had.

He should be inducted soon, he's not looking too healthy (have you seen his picture lately?).

Yes, I'm all for b0b being inducted into the HOF too. His contribution to the community is enormous.

Here is a photo of him receiving the ISGC award at the convention in 2000:

What's ISGA?

You folks have honored me with a PSGA Clay Savage Memorial Appreciation Award (1999), and with an ISGC Appreciation Award (2000), both of which are prominently displayed at Forum Central here in Cloverdale. Also, I have an award from the Short Notice Availability Pedalist Society declaring me the "Best Steel Player Available On Short Notice", which pretty much sums up my career as a steel guitarist.

Enough is enough! In all seriousness, there are career steel guitarists who are far more qualified than I to receive awards for their playing, and for advancement of the art.

For me personally, I'd like to see Julian Tharpe and Bill Stafford as inductees. Two kings of the 14 string steel guitars. Never new Julian but Bill has and is doing a lot to promote the steel guitar. Plus he's a great guy!

I can't figure out what Bobbe Seymour has done to to those who make the choice of who becomes a hof mamber. The man is an incredible steeler, he promotes the steel as well as anyone and flies a plane to boot. It makes you wonder is it a populatity contest or are you really chosen for skill? Anyway Bobbe whatever youhave done repent and get your reward. lol Jack

Politics..plain and simple...this has been hashed and rehashed, and rehashed..no doubt, Julian, Reece, Bobbe S...should have all been in by now. but because of PERSONAL reasons..they will NEVER be allowed in..such a shame...it doesn't matter who you are..or how well you play...if you are not one of the "Nashville Good Ole Boys", or if you have had personal trials in your life...or a brush with the law, hang it up...this is a personal thing for me..and i better not say any more...please don't ask me what they can do with their hall of fame....

I really don't care, but if it were up to me, I'd go along with Eric---Winnie, for his incredible teaching, developmental, and PLAYING ability---in addition to being a real nice dude!

[qoute]My guess would be Julian Tharpe... [/quote]

I seriosly doubt Julian Tharp will ever be inducted. The man made too many enemies. From everything I've heard, he was less than honest in his business dealing and had no inhibitions about ripping off other steel players.

When he was killed, Jeff Newman is alleged to have said that he got what he deserved.

I second Winnie's nomination.

etc. etc.

Anyone who thinks that a Forum post "nominating" someone to the HOF is anything but hot air is deluding himself. The nominating procedure and form are clearly spelled out on the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame web site.

Frankly, these speculative topics about the HOF bore me to no end. Winnie had more patience than I. In years past, he went to great lengths to explain the nominating process to Forum members.

My opinion is this: if you haven't made the effort to actually participate in the nomination process, you have no right to whine about who is or isn't in the HOF.

Mike with all due respect...and some not so due..i find it amazing how some people can participate, and justify, character assassination, from something someone else was SUPPOSE to have said, and neither of these gentlemen are here to defend themselfs. Mike this is an attribute unbecoming of you. I knew both Julian, and Jeff..and that is a statement Jeff Newman would not make about ANYONE. Please do not belittle the memory of Jeff, by making these absurd remarks that this Christian man was suppose to have made. You never once mentioned the fact that Mr Tharpe was one of the top players in the world. Just goes to show how near sighted you are. Instead of finding fault with a great musician, we should try to remember those for their contributions, and achievements that are still admired today. You DID NOT know Julian, and i rather doubt he would care what you thought of him anyway...but again with due respect sir..this is not the place for personal condemnation. It does not promote a positive image for steel guitar, and it berates all of us. Mike lets try to look at our predeccessors, for their contributions, not their faults. It would be both positive, and would do so much more to promote steel guitar in the sight of others.I think the fact that Julian played steel guitar better then most on the planet should mean something. Here again, if you don't play the game, you pay the pain..If it were know, the off colored things some of the great players already in the hall of fame have done..i wonder if they would have been inducted either! I and several others have nominated and nominated, and nominated...However, you can nominate, anytime of the year, and it will be carried over. So nominate Myron, i do encourage you and others like Bobby said!..humm..i wonder if the HOF members know how much i admire Julian Tharpe..maybe since i stopped trying to nominate him, and Reece, maybe now they might stand a chance of actually getting in! Sadly, i am one of those that read that HOF letter floating around, disturbing... The word "Black Listed" comes to mind!

Has Reece and/or Julian been legitimately nominated, and if so, how many times? This seems to be the first step in getting them to the HOF. We can then say we've done our part.

What b0b has done for the online steel world certainly warrants his induction
