WOW!! Whatta GREAT picture! I never heard Harley pick, but I have heard of him through my good friend,Buzz Evans. If Buzz liked him,he had to be a "killer". All three,(Harley,Curly,& Murph) are gone as a result of cancer. Whatta shame!!
Becky, now, works with our group,on Wednesdays, here in Hendersonville,at "Sputnik's",& on Saturdays,at the "Scoeboard Sports Bar" on Music Valley Dr. in Nashville. Becky is one of the hardest working bass players,& singers,in Nashville. When she gets through singing a song, you can "stick a fork in it",'cause its DONE!!

Wow! What a treat to see my good friend Harley Brendal again! Harley was a monster player who passed away in 2000 after alonf struggle with lung cancer.
Buzz Evans was one of his good friends, so were Jim Murphy and Johnny Cox.
Harley lived in Billings, Montana where his wife Marie still resides. Have to call her and tell her about the pic.
Thanks, Steve!
Kind Regards, Walter

That is my wife Becky...I didn't go to Gabe's that night-wish I had!I can't remember exactly when this picture was taken...I remember Harley being in town because he went to a session with me-he was a great player and a real gentleman...Becky came in one day recently with this...I think it's a great picture!

Steve,
I haven't met you, but I met Becky a couple of years back working with Smiley at the Cowboy Saloon. After listening to her sing and play, I had to tell her how much I liked her playing. She's one heck of a bass player and her style is solid as a rock.
Glad to see she still works with Smiley, Dennis Payne and Jim Unger. That is one heck of a band!

Hey Steve, your wife resembles Jessi Coulter. Can she do Storms Never Last and My Name's Not Lisa? |

Maybe this shot will help explain "Curly". This is from his "More Ways To Play" LP.
Steve, not even an idea what year on your picture?[This message was edited by Jim Phelps on 03 July 2005 at 01:29 PM.] |
