Ricky is the type of guy that gives it his all and more importantly shares it with others. I rate him as one of the most influential contributers to this Forum.
I can't tell you the joy it brings to my heart to see the pics of Sho-Bud restorations that he has put up here for all to view. What a magnificent job he does!!!
In addition he can advise on the mechanics of the instrument, he teaches us with tablature contributions, etc, etc,
An all around nice guy to boot.
But after all is said and done,,,,,I have never heard this man play.
I would love to have him post a link to an MP3 of his playing in this thread using the guitar of his choice. The SS Hawaiian would be a real treat.
C'mon Ricky ,,,Do It for everybody.
A fan.

Thanks ya'll are too kind> but you should see my Golf Swing....ha ...
Anyway; Roy thanks, but unfortunately I sold my SS HAWAIIAN and only play a '73 Sho-bud LDG and a Georgeboard hawaiian steel> that's all I got.
You can hear samples of my playing with a few of the artist that I choose to put on my website right here>click here for sample page
I've recored with over 20 different artist over the years; but those are my favorites at the time I put them up. Hopefully I'll be getting more up; as there are some REALLY killer singers that I recorded with this last year; as well as several commercials your probably hearing on the radio already..ha...
But Roy; the coolest thing is the live at the grand ole Opry with Dale Watson> my finest hour and the 5th and probably last time I'll ever play the grand ole opry...>and this click will fire that right up>Grand Ole Opry with Dale Watsonfor fast speed only.
Enjoy.

Thanks Ricky I followed your links and
finally listened and saw you playing.
What a wonderful "feel" and "drive" you
have. The Opry performance was just great
and I can well understand why you are so proud to be able to have done that.
I will visit your site often and keep lookin for more.
Keep up the good work.

RD is an example of of the perfect Fourmite.

Not only is he extreamly knowledgeable about playing, and his favorite instruments, he is willing to share that info with us.

I've never seen him involved in discussion here that was not productive and informative.

Thanks, Brother Ricky.

Thank all ya'll yet again.
Rick J. I don't know how to do it; but your more than welcome to swipe a Mp3 off that existing video; or if you can talk Graham Reid(Rebel) into doing it> he is a WIZ at that kinda stuff.
Roy; I'm glad you listened/watched some of my stuff; as that is the least I can do for you that have given us Many Many great hours of your playing and instruction.
Joey: "Perfect Forumite"???ha....if you knew how many times I wrote some pretty risk-a stuff; just to delete it before I posted it; you would think twice....ha... >but that is a very nice compliment coming from you my brother.
Now all ya'll "cut it out" your making me blush; and get on with real steel guitar talk.....ha.

Knowing the difference between the DELETE Key and the ENTER key, and when to use the proper one, makes all the difference.

I'm still learning.

Well, it seems like lots of great things have already been said about Ricky. I just wanted to add some words of thanks to the man who planted that seed of curiosity for the pedal steel guitar some two years ago with his marvellous playing on Billy Dee's first CD. That Sho-Bud had such an effect on me that I decided to get one for myself some year later. And who would be better suited for guiding me through the thrilling territories of the pedal steel than Ricky himself. So in September last year I went to Austin to pick up a refurbished Pro II Custom at Ricky's home. And that was the start of a new and thrilling phase in my life. No turning back now!

So, thanks for all the inspiration and support you've offered on my journey towards learning to play the Sho-Bud. And thanks for all that mighty fine music of yours (with Dale, Redd, Linda Lay, etc).
