Buddy, for the last 5 or 6 years I've been playing a Carter D-10 with E66 pickups in both bays. It is the best sounding guitar to my ear I've ever had.
Recently I recieved a Carter S12 E9/Bb6 universal; something to experiemnt on, maybe stumble into something new on it. It came with a GeorgeL 12-1. To me, I can't make it sing. I've ordered the 12 string version of the E66 but the good folks at Carter say to their ear it's too bright for a single 12 body. In Ohio there's not much C6 work, and I like the clearity of chords the E66 produces on the C6. I'm not asking for an endorsment per se, but a little direction maybe in order.
As a footnote, I've always had a rather dull touch, when I played guitar Gretsch and Gibson sounded great in the house, but on a gig it took a telecaster to sound good. |
