Looks like I'm with the opening act this month.

Thanks, Dave Z

Tom Killen has been with GJ for quite a while now. He is a gentleman's gentleman, and a fine steel player. Beautiful touch.

My friend and neighbor from Franklin KY, Tom Killen has been pickin' for the'possom for 20+ years. He's now playing a vintage Sho-Bud ala Ricky Davis!!!

Give us a report on the gig.

Cheers,
Bob

Tom is certainly one great guy, he took the time to give me the complete tour of his gear after the GJ show in Myrtle Beach this past April. Check out the barrel tuners on his Pro II. He plays that thing nice too.

I gotta hand it to anyone having to use earbuds for monitors. I think they'd drive me nuts.

I was going to ask the same question. Dad got me a George Jones Live DVD, but it's from way back, and there's no credits or even any date information. Is this Tom with the black Franklin guitar and what looks to be a Session 400?

Yes Michael that is Tom. He is an old friend of mine as well. When he and I were growing up in southeast Missouri we played in the same band together. I was on bass guitar at that time. Tom was a great player back then. It was 77-79. Man where did the time go??? He started with George Jones in the early 80's. 81 is going to be my guess.

Well, whenever this video was done, I'm loving it. Some live gig in a large room with a huge crowd. I'm in the process of copping some tasty licks off this guy.

Just to make you feel older, I was born in '79.

Hey Billy-

I was out of town this weekend so that's why I wasn't at the Ivy Room. My first gig with J. Dilks is the 17th this month at the Starry Plough.

My show with George Jones is at Konocti Harbor with the Mother Truckers. We do well up there and always sell tons of merch. Josh and Teal, the singers are moving to Austin this month so I guess we'll go out with a bang!

See ya around town sometime. Do you have a new email. I can't get through to you.
