Just received my copy of Westside Story by Michael Perlowin. Being relatively new to the steel guitar I wanted to hear some classical music performed on steel. Wow! This is some great listening.(Tonight) is totally awesome!
Michael is a true master musician in the greatest sense of the word.
If you want a liitle variety in your musical library get this CD right here on the forum!

It is a great CD. It is however not my favorite of the two I've heard with Mike. The other one, Firebird Suite is more to my taste. Mike seems to prefer this one though. I'm from Sweden, West Side Story isn't a big thing here, never really was. It was a long time since I listened to it though, might have vhanged my mind.

One of my favorite pieces of music is the Firebird Suite. I have a CD made by Yama****a, a japanese classical guitar player, where he plays ALL the orchestral parts (including percussion, horns, winds) on a standard nylon string classical. I am always impressed with people taking such a difficult, wonderful piece of music and doing a totally new thing with it. Mr. Perlowin is gifting us with another perspective, and we should be grateful.
