Jernigan on Hee-Haw, no screen time for the steel player on Pop Goes Country that I could see.

I always liked the way Faron pronounced "year" as "yee-uh." Wink

Skip Jackson on the up tempo (2 doubles) version. He was on the band a couple yee-uhs before me.

Very Happy And it seems Faron went from doing Buck Owens on the first one, to Dean Martin on the 2nd. ...LOL Laughing

Yeah,I always love to hear Faron go into his Dino trip...

I used to work with Jim Owen, the Hank Williams tribute guy,who swore that Dino stole his singing style from Faron...unlikely,but funny.

Jerry Lee Lewis is able to go to"Dinoland"at will,too...the end of"Another Place,Another Time"is just one example...

Fiddle players=Ernie Reed on the left,Ron Knuth(?)on the right...

I worked with Ron Knuth with Ray Price about 30 years ago and I think the fiddle player on the right is him anyway...

I've always found it interesting the way these great singers change the tempo and approach to these classic songs to fit the changing tastes in music over time. The first clip has Faron singing the song in the classic country/swing style and the second shows more of a pop music tempo.(Thus the title of the show Pop goes the country)

Another example of this would be Joe Stampley singing the song "All these things" with the Uniques and later changed it to a country style after being embraced by country fans. He wasn't originally interested in pursuing a country based career, but that's who embraced his style.

That combined with the fact that these artists have to tire of performing the same song literally thousands of times and I can see where they would like to change up the songs. It shows how much talent the greats have to be so flexible and try to please their fans. Faron was truly in a class of his own and deserves the label of one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
