I just bought a CD containing Paul Siebel`s Woodsmoke And Oranges (1970) and Jack-Knife Gypsy (1971)on one disc . Anyone who loves steel guitar and/or 70`s singer/songwriter stuff with a strong country influence should get this one asap ! Weldon Myrick plays on the first one and Buddy Emmons on the second . Great stuff from the opening overdubbed Myrick trademark harmony intro to the extended fade out with Buddy on the bonus track... AND the original version of Louise.I think it`s safe to say that this is the kind of stuff that got many of us hooked on steel in the first place .

Is that part of Elektra's new reissue imprint?

Well!
Two of the best records. Too bad they didn't put on ALL of Jack Knife Gypsy.
Weldon does an overdub on "Met her at a dance" that is breathtaking.
Fine steel playing for a GREAT singer and player-- who just didn't have the wherewithall to get with the treadmill program that the industry was trying to force him into.

Yes Jason, this is from the new Elektra series of two-albums-on-one-CD . Others available include the first two albums by the Dillards ! Winnie, unlike a previous re-release this one (released 2004 ) contains both albums complete plus a bonus track from the Jack-Knife Gypsy sessions, titled Nervous . That`s the one with the long Buddy solo in the fade. I could not find a song titled I met her at a dance on either of the albums ?
Cheers,

Oh Yeah!! When I saw these were re-issued, I jumped at the chance to replace my vinyl. I ordered mine through Caiman.com in the Amazon used marketplace. They seem to have the best price for new stuff. Highly recommended.
