The grand opening of Jim Palenscar’s “Steel Guitars of North County” was to say the least, a HUGE success!!!!! People came from far and wide. I met a man who came from Texas. A few from Los Angeles including Dean Parks and others from other parts of the country.

I can’t even start to describe it. It was nothing short of an incredible experience!!! I have been to the shows in Dallas, St. Louis as well as some others but they all pale in comparison to what happened yesterday. Reece was the true gentleman of the event, not only his incredible musicianship but his graciousness with all the people who attended. It was up close and personal with incredible musicians and their music for many hours.

Some of the musical luminaries that attended were:

Maurice Anderson
JD Maness
David “The Wildman” Wright
Rick Schmidt
Kevin and Bob Ryan
Blackie Taylor
Jim Baron
Dean Parks
Jay Leach
As well as others

Instead of going on I’ll post some pics of the event when I get a chance.

Thank You for everything Jim. It was an event that I will never forget and I mean that!!!!! Because of you steel guitar is alive and well in Southern California.

I'll have to second Jim's comments. The store grand opening was packed and David and Reece went to town playing for us all. Big Jim was there demonstrating Band in a Box, which is one cool piece of software.

Later that evening the real show began and the place was packed. David started things off, then Reece and JayDee worked their way to the stage. But what topped it off was all three of them taking turns on the same song. Those three styles were so wild to get to listen too. One was always trying to top the other in liks! A crazy steel picker's dream, for sure.

Great folks there Saturday at the store and the show. And for just meeting Jim Palenscar that day, I can tell you he made us feel right at home.

What a hoot Saturday was!

Yes. Thanks Jim for providing is all with a great day. It was the best thing to happen in California for the last 3 or 4 years.

First the L.A. Jam, then this, then next week's jam. This is shaping up to be a great month for steel guitar in our state.

It was really my pleasure to put this on as everyone really pitched in to help. A big thanks to "Big" Jim Baron and Fran Carter for all the help, manning the door, the stage, etc.- and to my wife, Karen, without whose help none of this could have been accomplished, including her support in my opening of the store. I'm looking forward to seeing more pics as John "Mr. Twang" McClung and Silvio Bello were shootin' away as well.
Truth be known- it is all Reece's fault. When I told him thatI was going to open up a store he said that he would be there "with bell's on" at the grand opening. I then asked him what grand opening would that be and he made me do it . Thanks to the wonderful players- Jay Dee, David Wright(you are one great front man), and Reece as well as a terrific band- Rick Schmidt on guitar and midi-guitar, Greg Rye on drums, and Mark Windrum on bass. Those guys did a masterful job backing up these monsters- WAY TO GO!

I had a chance to vist Jim's facility on Sunday. He was kind enough to open up and let me and a friend who was picking my guitar I had sold on the Forum, walk through the shop. I was very impresed with his repair capabilities. Thanks again Jim

I agree with David, we should do this more often. I know my friend Jim put a lot of work and effort into this event but it could be done on a smaller scale.

I'll tell you all, to see Reece, JD and David share the stage an play some of the most incredible music to say the least was an event of the best kind. You heard straight ahead country, jazz standards and lots in between, pedal and non pedal.

What a GOOD TIME!!!!!

It was an honor and a pleasure to be a part of the grand opening. The attitude and positive spirit of everyone will always be remembered.

I admire my dear friends Jim and Karen Palenscar for having the vision, and I congratulate everyone who helped make it such a fun place and time.

As for my musical partners JayDee and David, they are amazing and mesmerizing players. (as everyone already knows) I was both honored and inspired to be on stage with them. More importantly to me, they are great people and two of the best friends anyone could ever hope to have.

Jim Palenscar.I would like to add my two cents.First of all I would like to thank you for a GREAT !!!!! opening and show. The opening alone was worth the drive down, but the show, will got more then $20 worth. In fact $50 should have been more like it.Everyone I meet down there were great to us.To Reece Dave and JayDee it was a great honor to meet and talk to you.
Dave is right we should do something like that atleast 2 times a year and what better place then at Jims place.
To Jim West if you have any pic of the show could you post a few had a bad roll of film not one turned out good,Thanks
Jim P. look forward to getting my steel back in 3 or4 weeks. In the mean time am have great fun with the 6string lap you sold me.THANKS AGAIN
