Richard: Our band will be at Club Corner on Fri & Sat, Sept. 16-17. I play a Pro II rebuilt by Duane Marrs. Club Corner is at 6551 West 44th Avenue, in the NW part of town. We're a bunch of 'old country boys', still playing the old music. You can check us out at http://www.dickfrost.com

Sorry to interupt a thread, but speaking of Denver Country players, I have a cousin that plays bass and sings in the Denver area. I am a lot older than him, (Iused to show him some guitar chords years ago) and I have never heard him play a "Job", only jammed a little at a family reunion. Anyone know
"Jimmy, (or Jim) Cusimano?" |

September is a long way out but email me a couple of weeks before you come and I'll tell you where some of the bands are playing at that time. There aren't many house band in Denver so every band moves from week to week.

I have played many gigs with Jimmy, and he is a fine player, as well as a great guy to hang with. Haven't seen him in a while, though.
Like LeRoy said, give us a heads up nearer to the time you are headed out. Spetember seems like a long time from now ...[This message was edited by John Macy on 11 April 2005 at 05:15 PM.] |

You can always find country bands weekly at the Grizzly Rose on I 25. I may be there then as we play there every six weeks, Rob Dixon band. If we are there come by and say hello and show me a few new licks I can steal, or steel...

Chuck Lettes and Dick Meis are also in the Denver area and could give you some leads. I believe both play out, but I'm not sure where. Dick has a web site www.pedalsteelguitar.net and I believe his schedule is on the site. If not just call or email him or other forumites in the area and I believe you will not be disappointed in the quality of pedal steel pickin' in Denver. Great players!! |

Another GREAT steeler in Denver is Clip (Cliff) Cookson. He has a cow-jazz trio with Karen Osburn on bass and Jeff Kennison on Drums - every Sunday night out on East Colfax
The name of the club is Gary C"s. East Colfax and about Geneva. North side of street. I think there is parking in back. The awning over the row of businesses is the color of the Mexican flag. This is a hot trio, with some absolutely great steel.

Yet Another great Denver Steeler. Ernie Martinez. He can play almost any stringed instrument well, but I love his Steel playing!
I recorded in Colorado Springs a few years ago, and Ernie did a fantastic job!
Ernie? Do you ever get on the SGF??? |

I haven't heard of Ernie for the better part of ten years. I'm not sure he is playing in Denver any more.
Does anyone from Denver know for sure?

Another great steeler in the Denver area is Snaz Wall. Last I heard he was part of a trio that played a small club in Aurora.
Snaz can play it all. |

Snaz was inducted into the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. I've never met the man. |
