| It seems to me like Paul posts quite a lot on this forum.Perhaps your statement will encourage him to post more??In fact I think he posts more than any other "pro".I wonder why they don't post? |

I was tuning the strings up and down to demonstrate some of the pedal changes I have adapted on my guitar for the discussion I was having with Reece. I probably was not using any pedals when I detuned the guitar. I was demonstrating to Reece how his copedant with the Bb6th prompted me to change many of the standard C6th pedals.
I hope this explains what I was doing.

I think we are lucky that guys such as Paul, Buddy and many others post at all! I think the reason many of them don't post more is that they just don't have the spare time. Many of the session pros are doing three sessions a day. Thats 10-1, 2-5 and 7-10. When you consider the logistics of that life, there isn't a whole lot of spare time. Not to mention that some guys are out on tour or rehearsing with one or more acts as well.
I'm sure they'd all love to do nothing but champion the steel guitar on forums like this, but one has to make hay while the sun shines. The music business is competitive and even the best of the best get challenged by the up and coming, so they still have to keep practicing. Add to this just having a life outside of the career demands. Whew! We are fortunate that we get any posts by pros. The fact that we do shows the heart and passion that these players have. |

What do you expect from me? If the rule becomes "I must answer all posts addressed to me, or answer none at all, to be fair to all". With little time to spend here I would have to opt for the later. I post when I can and I miss alot.

I've been very impressed with the way someone of Paul's cliber takes time to respond at all. Sometimes he responds with in depth information. For a busy pro, I think he does great. Thanks, Paul!

To even remotely think that anyone deserve an answer from PF or any of the other heavy hitters that by the way used to post here and on another forum quite often in years past is both inconsiderate and rude.
These guys have been worn down enough by trivial questions---what kind of amp settings did you use 37 years ago on that session?-what do you eat for breakfast??-do you change strings as often as your underwear??-bottom line is that if every pro started answering every question addressed to them then they would be inundated with time consuming mostly useless stuff.
One pro I talked to says he does not contribute here much in discussions because he does not enjoy the petty arguments and such that go on.
You want to get a pro to answer your question---then present him with an in depth, intelligent, thought provoking question that will be of benefit to all the steel community and you will get a reply. What intrigues these guys is very different than basic butt level questions. Sure they want to help all they can, but in reality their contribution here is "give and give" and not so much "give and take".
You can only go to the well so many times.

I probably shouldn't put my nose into this, but with 518 registered posts since 2000 I would say that Mr. Franklin does what he can when you consider his workload. Maybe "request" instead of "advice" would have been more approbriate. Just my two cents

| In the time I have been a member here I have seen Paul answer a lot of questions. Sometimes it takes a couple days but he gets it done. I figure that he doesn't have time to live on here like some of us. Thanks for what you do manage to fit in for us Paul. |

| Paul is a VERY friendly person. When we were at the Dallas Show, he was by our table and talked to my small grandson ( Dalton ) for a while. He also took the time out to let us take his picture with Austin. I was really impressed with how friendly he was. Donna |

I will have to agree with Jerry Newberry. I met Mr. Franklin at the Dallas Steel Guitar Show in March of this year and just like Jerry said,"Paul Franklin is a neat person to know. Likewise, Mr. Franklin paused to have a couple of pictures made with me of which I am extremely appreciative. If the forumites who think that Mr. Franklin does not answer enough responses to questions directed at him would realize that he stays on a tight schedule through out the year and when he does reply to any post is an extreme Honor in my book. Mr. Franklin, like someone else had mentioned before:
