I would like to say thanks to our friend Bobbe Seymore, for not only giving us so many fine steelguitar recordings and instructional material, but giving so much of himself to our beloved inst. as well!
Bobbe has never been too busy to answer any of the many questions we all have asked of him even though I am sure he has heard them over and over again.Always with a smile or a good natured jab in the ribs....its no wonder this man has soooo many friend and fans world wide! Good deals in his store, good looking and helpful staff, and an off the wall sense of humor to boot!...Who could ask for more?
Thanks Bobbe!......

I have replied twice I believe, but I get no reply from my replies.

I'll jump on this bandwagon, too. I first met Bobbe in about '90. I had to sell all my great gear to pay bills because of a divorce, and was very depressed about it. Bobbe helped me out with selling my stuff and then talked me into taking an old Emmons s-10 he had laying around. It played just fine, but looked like crap. (at that point I didn't care) Chipped mica and dings and scratches gallore. I couldn't believe what he was doing, but reluctantly accepted his gift. Sadly, a year later it too had to be sold. Times were terrible back then.
Well, time marched on...and finally, last November I decided to get back to my roots...playing steel...after 12 years! I e-mailed Bobbe about my situation and exactly what I was looking for. He said to keep my eyes on his website and let him know if I saw something I liked. 2 days later, I got another, unsolicited e-mail from him.
This time he said he had this brand new guitar he thought I might like and quoted an unbelievable price. I was dumbfounded!! Well, if you know Bobbe, you know what he was doing. This big-hearted jokster was reaching out to a fellow steeler-in-need to help hom get back on his feet....and did he ever!!
That's twice this big lug has gone way over the line to help me. I shall forever be obliged to this kind and generous man. He is a rare breed, and I thank God for him daily....even with the warped humor he's still someone I'm proud to call my friend.

Bobbe
I made a purchase off e-bay awhile back and I could not converse with the seller and later found out he had .ca blocked on his computer because of a spam problem.I guess he thought because i'm up in Canada "mad cow disease" could be transmitted by computer.
I was inquiring about a lift kit for a GFI. |

Bobbe is a great friend as well as a great steel player. He always treats my wife and myself as if he's known us all are lives. I've tried to buy his CDs but he always just smiles and gives them to me. He always answers my Emails. Its a pleasure knowing and calling him a friend the steel playing is a bonus. Don

Don D.,
Thank you for letting me know.
The GFI lift kits can only be gotten from the GFI factory, ours don't work on GFI because of the GFI aluminum legs being a different dimension. Sorry. Most often the Factory will trade you even, the shorter original rods and legs for the longer ones.
This is a wonderful factory with a great reputation for serving the customer. Ask for Gene or Bob,
If you have any problems, I'll be glad to help in any way possible.

Bobbe Seymour-is one mean guy!-He kicked me out of his store, told me I should quit playing Steel and start playing with dolls, buzzed my Florida house with his dang airplane at 6:00 in the morning-replied hatefully to my phone calls-never sold me a steel guitar I wanted-disgusting!!The last time I talked to him he told me I should become a ditch digger and not a muscian-he told me the reason the easter bunny hides his eggs is because he does not want anyone to know he has been mating with the chickens!!UHH!!You like this guy! Well it is almost April 1st!!!! so I am playing a intro into the first measure! He is justpickable!! Who doesn't love this guy!

I saw the thread,Thanks Bobbe Seymour, and I just have to add my thanks for all the years of friendship, customer service, the sales, and thanks for giving me the business from time to time....in another thread Claude Gray is mentioned and many of his steel players...in the winter 1971 Bobbe was with Claude Gray and I was unemployed,Bobbe through the goodness of his heart asked me to help him with his gig, explaining to Claude that he needed time off and that he knew just the steel player to sub...meaning me, he did not particularly need time off...He was doing this to help a less fortunate picker...he saved me from a rotten winter and helped me to make some new and wonderful friends and made my banker happy too....Thanks again Bobbe.
Oh! By the way, My two new pilots,Willie Staller and Kenny Landergoode said to tell you hello....they are wanting to take a crash course in steel guitar and you da man!!!! |

A few months after getting my Sho~Bud, a bracket that the left knee lever attaches to just up and broke in half. I'm thinking, "man, this thing is old--where am I gonna find parts?" Somehow I got Bobbe's number and called long distance from Detroit.
I got Bobbe, explained my problem and asked if he had the part I needed. He said, yes, its a 421 (or some such number)--I can get it out to you in the mail tomorrow. So I asked, being uninformed about such things, "what is this part called?" He replied, "Its a 421!" That cracked me up for some reason, but I'll never forget that response. We also had a good talk about steel. In fact, he talked me out of buying a new steel and convinced me to keep the Sho~Bud. I'm now glad that I did. In my book, he's a class act...even if he does buzz peoples homes with his plane at 6:15 am. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/biggrin.gif) |

I resemble that remark!I've always been crazy but it keeps me from going on them dang planes!--Bobbe is a phenonimal player and represents the best of what Nashville is to the musical world-your all heart Bobbe and it shows in your playing-brother!!!!

I don't jump on band wagons frequently, but I've got to make an exception for this thread. When I got my first steel, a GFI student model off Flea Bay I soon found Neil Flanz here in S. Florida. I'm grateful to Neil for so much but up near the top is sending me to Bobbe and S.G.N.
Bobbe has gone above and beyond so many times and I'm proud to call him my friend. It's true, Bobbe has lots of friends. I'm just proud he considers me one of them!

A non-playing friend and I spent some time with Bobbe and Dan Bentley in his shop Thursday...and Bobbe put on a little thumb-picking show after witnessing my feeble efforts on the new GFI. We took a couple of C-D's off his hands and all the way back to Chattanooga my buddy kept asking..."How'd he do that?" My answer was pretty stright forward...beats me!
Good to visit with you Bobbe...and so far my wife hasn't vetoed the thing we talked about. |
