Thank you Mark for the recommendation.
I'm not so sure that it's safe to admit to playing banjo on this forum. Let's just say that I use the banjo as a tool to warm up my right hand before playing the pedal steel. There have been times when I played banjo all day at a gig and then played steel the same night, and my right hand would be very limber. It really does work...

I have a cheap banjo that I lent to a friend of mine for 7 or 8 years. When I got it back I found some tab on the internet that had some basic rolls. When I practiced these basic banjo rolls I noticed that it had a positive effect on my steel playing. I haven't been praciticing banjo rolls lately but I do believe that it is a great exercise for your right hand.
