Just wanted to say thanks to those early adopters of my POD mounting brackets. If you have a chance to see JoDee Masina or Gretchen Wilson in concert you can see one of my units on stage. David Spires and Gaylon Mathews are using their POD's and brackets out on tour with their respective bosses. Oh yeah, Mr. Franklin with "The Players" has one too!
Thanks to all of you for your early support of this product. I think the POD XT and my bracket gives the player a lot of sounds at his finger tips.

Tommy,
Just went through a couple rehearsal days, and it's first show last night... I love having my POD mounted right by my right hand. It makes switching patches so easy, especially in combination with the MatchBro switching I have to do too.
Thanks again for taking the time and effort to come up with a product that helps all steel guitar/POD users.
If you use a POD on steel, give Tommy's POD Bracket a try. Heck, our drummer even told me that it looks "cool" mounted on my steel. Now, anything that can help make ME look cool...
:-)

PS - Gotta correct the spelling for my boss - that's - Jo Dee Messina.

David and Paul,
If you don't mind my asking...
What POD settings do you use?
Thanks,

Bob,
I haven't been ignoring your question, but actually my road gear has been on the truck since Tuesday night, and I won't see it until our next show this Tuesday.
Just going on memory, here is my basic tone (I'll try and revise this next week with actual numbers):
POD XT v1.01 (I know there are updates, as I have in my backup - but I like the button functions of the v1.01 software.)
Jazz Chorus Amp Model: Drive (lowest setting), Bass (explaining like hands on a clock) 2:30 to 2:45pm, Mid 10:30-11:00, Treble 11:00 ish, maybe less, Presence (lowest setting); Volume (highest setting)
U67 Mic - 60-65% room
Compressor: -3 or -4dB threshold; +8 to 10 gain; Gate at -90dB, 22% Decay
Stomp: I use the Tubescreamer at 100% drive, maybe 34% gain, 80% tone, and turn it on for overdriven slide stuff. I LOVE IT!
Delay: Stereo - with the offset to send the mix to only one side, 361ms, 15% feedback, mix of 15-25%.
Reverb: Vintage Plate - 4.5 to 6.5 mix... I forget the rest...
My guitar has George L pickups, and I am using impedance matching devices in the MatchBro, using an LDR pedal - all of it will make a tonal difference.
Paul is using the POD 2.0, and I do hope that he has enough time to share some of his overdrive settings on it. I love the tones he gets with it - with "The Players".
I hope this helps with a ballpark. I really do play around with my settings a lot - sometimes find myself back where I started, or learn something new - at least to my ears.
Good luck,
David Spires |
