I know there was Julian T., Mike Jones, Bobby Black. Any others? (aside from the lady herself!)
Thanks,
Ricky...

I saw her in the mid 70's when "Cookie" was playing for her. She sat down at his steel and played "Steel Guitar Rag" on the C6 neck and tore it up. You just gotta love her!! |

That guitar is beyond impressive. I got to see it when they were shooting "The Barbara Mandrell Story". It's been refinished and at the time, only the bottom neck was strung. Notice that it has cabinet ends. If you like maple with strings attached..... [This message was edited by chas smith on 12 February 2005 at 11:04 AM.] |

That guitar is also prominently displayed at the Country Music Hall of fame, if you're ever in Nashville check it out. And that photo is the one they used as the "author" photo on the book jacket to her autobiography which I thought was pretty cool...
I'd have to guess that that's about the heaviest steel ever built! |

Russ Hicks worked for Barbara, along with my lead picker (super picker) friend Ray Riggs. |

That was Sonny Garrish on steel for Country wasn't Cool. One of my favorite players.

Spent a little time over at the Mandrell house about the time this picture was taken (I have an autografed copy). Don't remember the tunings, but the lever on the 4th neck changed it to a C#M. She even let me play on it a little bit. Shortely after that, I bought my first Sierra Steel. |
