Just made a firm committment on a ProI.. with 5+6!!! YOW!!!.. My standard E9 copedent for years has been at least 5+4.. My Carter is 5+5.. Now I gots even more stuff!!.

A player named Doug from Oregon saw my post looking for an S 10 and he replied.. We worked out the price[which I will disclose here, in time] and he made a committment to sell, and me to buy. It will be a few weeks as he is out on the road.

The guitar is NOT completed, with a lot of undercarriage work to do.. I think he said it had a Super Pro changer and all the undercarriage parts were Super Pro or Marrs, unless I mis understood,... anyway, he sent me a bunch of pics, but I deleted them like a big moron.

I just bought an MSA,but offed it,to a student of Neil Flanz who is THRILLED at the idea of getting a pro grade guitar for cheap.
It was nice Maple MSA, but the added pedals, refinish, and a new pickup to replace the SS humbucker, would have cost me the same or more than the Bud... anyhow.. thats it. I'm a Sho Bud guy again!... My Carter is going to have to be REAL nice to me with that Pro I lurking around... Both these guitars will be my last unless severe money problems rear thier hideous heads. I pray that the Lord will bless my life so that DOES NOT occur.

I have missed that Bud sound and feel, since selling my Pro III.. I don't know why, but I have a feeling I am going to like this sweet Pro I even MORE than the pro III... anyway, wish me luck guys.. I hope all goes the way I envision it with this deal... bob

(someone had to say it!)

You know I'm just pulling your leg, Bob! Didn't mean to make you the bud of a joke.... Ok, that was a bit of a reach.

Congratulations, I hope your new Sho-Bud is just what you're looking for.

Jim.. Actually all steels do sound the same!! .. Its not the guitars fault however!.. The damn players take a great Emmons guitar, plug it in and start cranking knobs till it sounds like a Sho Bud..or vise versa...

Believe it or not, that thread had a purpose. It was to point out that whats in a players head usually makes its way out through the amp... The steels DO sound different. All of them good in thier own way. Its us players that ruin thier tone by tweaking knobs to get "our tone" .. In any case, I'll sound every bit as pathetic on the Bud as I do on my Carter,or my MSA,or my other MSA,or my other Bud,or my other MSA before that,OR my other Bud before that, or my Dekley.. ad nauseum... bob

yes, there seems to be a Sho Bud revival going on, all the ones I've seen lately "sound great" just looking at them, I would be hard pressed to not buy a S-12 if one came along

Mooney turns the knobs untill it sounds like a Fender...or maybe untill it sounds like Mooney. Maybe it really is in the hands.

Bob,

That sounds like a great guitar. Will you be able to keep it as a backup or will you let it compete for the starting job?

Russ,, It depends I suppose, I love old steels for the "cool" factor, and really like the sound of old steels through the tube amps I use, BUT I find modern steel guitars better at staying/playing in tune, quieter, more precise, etc.

They will both get played.. THATS for certain! I like having a choice..... bob

Bob,

You can trust Doug, a great player and a greater guy. Good luck with your guitar!
