On Paper Roses by Marie Osmond, the steel guitar work is very high quality, both arrangement and clarity.

Does anyone know who is playing steel guitar on the recording?

Many thanks, Rick

It is Mr. Chalker, of this I am absolutely certain. I remember this fact from when the recording came out.

I played on a number of cuts on the album. I thought it was Lloyd Green on "Paper Roses" Guess we can all be mistaken, sometimes.

How can it be Curly?? He used an MSA... MSA guitars are supposed to sound bad right? That was a nice sounding cut... Couldn't be an MSA could it? A player as great as Curly couldn't play an awful sounding guitar right? ... sorry guys... inside joke.... bob

Just wait 'till you hear Laney Hicks sing it! And her cut will have two, yes count 'em, two steel players on it.

I just spoke with Lloyd; He didn't play on the song. So, it's either Weldon (I'm going to call him) or Chalker. Be cool. Stu.

Spoke with Weldon and Lloyd; neither played on "Paper Roses" I've got a call in to Charlie McCoy; He was on the album and will probably remember. Looks more and more like it was Chalker. I played on: It's such A Pretty World, Sweet Dreams and You're the only world I kow. Not sure of the others. Be cool. Stu.

Haven't heard from McCoy, yet. Remember (All you who wonder if it's Chalker) He endorsed Sho-Bud and it could very well be him. The album ws cut in 1973. No musician credits on the sleeve. Be cool. Stu.

Hey Stuski....it was Curls.... for sure, on Miss Marie's cut, but it's Randy and me on Miss Laney's cut on mine and Randy's new twin CD, 'A Little R&R'....probably won't be available 'til St. Louis but I had to take advantage of this Paper Roses post and get the plug in. Curly played great on that record which was proof of what a wonderful E9 player he was, even tho as every one knows, the other side was his favorite.
