The local newspaper today ran a story about a local Tattoo Parlor. AS I read the story I was wondering if anyone ever had a "STEEL GUITAR" Tattoo on their body. Going to different Guitar Shows I see lots of Tattoos,at one show a nice "TELE" in color. Just curious- this post will probably cause a" Rush" on Tattoo Parlors. Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works.

No one in our band has a tatoo or body piercing. Are we boring or what? Only one guy smokes but we do mix a pretty good drink now and then.

NO STEEL GUITAR TATTOO YET, BUT I HAVE A ZANE BECK ALBUM, ENTITLED, "ZANE BECK PLAYS THE NEW ZB STUDENT MODEL". I GOT THIS ALBUM FROM ZANE AT HIS HOME/SHOP IN EARLY 1975 AND I BELIEVE IF MEMORY SERVES, HE WAS A U.S. NAVY VET? ANYHOO, MOST SAILORS BACK IN THE DAY EITHER HAD A TATTOO OR WAS GOING TO GET ONE WHEN THEY HIT SHORE AND ZANE HAD A SCREAMING EAGLE ON HIS RIGHT FOREARM...AS A YOUNG, WET-BEHIND-THE-EARS, IMPRESSIONABLE COUNTRY BOY, I HAD TO GET ME AN EAGLE TATTOO JUST LIKE ZANE'S RIGHT AFTER I ENTERED THE MILITARY! IN FACT I GOT MY SCREAMING EAGLE TATTOO ON A SATURDAY NIGHT IN GOOD OLD NEW OLANS IN 1975. BACK TO THE THE ALBUM COVER, THE LITTLE STUDENT MODEL STEEL HAD "ZB CUSTOM" ON THE FRONT AND HAD A RED APRON AND BLACK SIDES AND WAS HOOKED UP TO A ZB CUSTOM AMP AND OF COURSE A ZB VOLUME PEDAL. ZANE REALLY MADE THIS LITTLE "STUDENT MODEL" TALK!

I had thought about getting a Emmons emblem tattooed on my upper arm, with the 3 screws and all. Thought it would look kinda cool if it looked like it had actually been screwed to my arm. I never did do it. I guess I got over the urge. Lately I have been thinking about getting a tatoo of the Sons of Confederate Veterans insignia, or possibly some other nice tribute to the Confederacy and my ancestors that fought in the "war against northern aggression"

Maybe I'll get the "Carter" logo tattooed on my forehead. That way people will know I'm smart enough to play the steel guitar. Only question is, should I get it done backwards so that I can admire it in the mirror?

A bassist I used to tour with had a big bass clef tattooed on his bicep. Looked cool! And he always wore sleeveless T's to show it off.

Anyone can play bass, though. Four strings? Child's play

I don't recall the movie I saw this in. It pictured a young girl from the rear sitting naked on a chair and playing a chello with "f" holes tattoed on each of her sides to match her chello.

I'm not much into tattos but might consider one about psg or flying. My youngest tattoed daughter would freek out.

I like to get the image of the front of pedal steel shaved onto the back of my head the day before going to a weekend long steel convention.
It's actually a pretty easy one to do compared to some of the fancy stuff I've seen done with hair art.
'Only takes about a week or two to grow out.

As a matter of fact, there IS ONE that several people and I know about. In 1999, at the St. Louis Show, Jim, Joann Acoth, and myself were "working" the "Emmons" Booth there in the Ballroom, when this Big Fellow walked up and "Flashed" his Upper arm to us, and ask us if we had ever met ANYONE that was as "Diehard" an EMMONS NUT as he was, and showed a Really cool Tattoo of a D-10 that was TOTALLY "Dressed Out." I certainly can't remember his name, but, I would KNOW THAT "EMMONS' ARTWORK" ANYWHERE.

99.999% of people I run across don't even know what the h*ll my pedal steel is when they stand right in front of it. I can't imagine going through life with people constantly asking me what the h*ll that tattoo is on me. It'll just compound the misery. If I get a musical tattoo, it'll be some clef signs (bass on left deltoid, treble on right), or some notes, or maybe my sax.

Hi ED..I've been Tattooing for over 35 years and have had to draw up Martins, Fenders, Gibsons, horns keyboards, portraits of famous players, instrument company logos, but haven't done a steel yet. Close as I've gotten is the engraving I did on the solid aluminun Sho-Bud pan guitar that I displayed at your booth in St. Louis in 2000. Maybe I'll bring my tattooing kit to the next convention!Larry

I'm thinking about having an ironing board tattooed on my forehead -- so people won't be confused about what instrument I play.
