Hiya gang, I am the next new kid, thought I'd say yo before I get too far here. I am 41 and been playing around with steel for about a year. I recently started instruction with Mark Van Allen, and have recently purchased one of Herb Remingtons fine steels (a Playboy SCool and a Sierra 8 string lap. Both are in transit... so I'll let you know what I think when they get here. If I start sounding stoopid, either ignore me or blame Mark... (just kidding).

Hi Keith. I've been playing on a Remington D10 Sustainmaster for 7 years now and I love it. It rarly goes out of tune. I've had many compliments on the tone.

Keith, welcome to Fantasy Island, or thereabouts. You'll meet a bunch of great folks here, with about a millenium of experience in steel guitar. Just remember, ask and ye shall recieve, whether you want to or not.

Welcome Keith! You have picked the right guy for lessons, he is one hell of a player. To be dead honest, I heard a solo a couple years back, that just blew my mind. I found out later that Mr. Mark Van Allen played that solo. That solo is what pushed me to actually go buy my first steel. It still my favorite steel solo, and I stil can't play it. ha ha. He has influenced me more than he will ever know. Congratulations and I wish you the best of luck.
