I got an old friend who was just given a Maverick
by another friend.
3 + 1
He is a solid player on guitar, but I imagine he would like a local name,
who can give him some hands on tips to et going.
And maybe some one who can help put on 2 Marrs lever kits on for E's raise and lower. |

I believe Terry Miller still lives in Hammondsport, NY -- south end of Keuka Lake. I don't know if he teaches or not, but he sure can play steel and dobro.
Another local player there is Larry Bates (in the Addison or Corning NY area).
Haven't lived in that area since about 1980 so I don't know the younger players in the area.

In the Rochester area, there may still be a guy named Dave Peerce, whom I knew back in the 70's and who was my first teacher when I got into the game. |

David,
I think you can contact, Kirt Kowalski in the Rochester area...for lessons. I know at one time he was teaching steel...had some medical problems..and I have lost touch with him. Try him at: Kurtkowalski@hotmail.com...if that fails, get back to me.. |

Hi, Thanks all, I will pass all this on to him.
He has a small recording studio up in Ovid, and is a good player. He was totally into the steel as of yesterday. |

Don't know how I could have forgotten to mention my old buddy Jamie Hurd. He's the guy who told be to buy a steel and learn to play it. I've done the first part. Jamiie was the first guy I ever took a lesson from.
Years later, after I'd left the area Jamie got together with my brother who fronted the band. My brother loves to talk about his playing days with Jamie on steel.

David..I recorded a couple of tracks for a children's album at that studio. The artists name was Tom Knight. It was a pretty impressive home/basement/garage studio. I remember the owner/engineer[your friend] had a green strat on the wall of the studio...I do not recall his name unfortunately.
Its been several years now, but I met your friend, and recall the session. I played steel on two tunes and was well rehearsed for the session and was done and gone in an hour or so... Tell your friend the steel player who played on Tom Knights CD would like to talk steel guitar with him if he is interested... bob |

Bob, his name is Mike Singer.
I have been in bands with him as far back as 1978. And I provided some of his earliest recording exeriences,
but he has gone on his own and done quite well. A fine Tele picker too.
He has recorded a few Christian acts, at another studio in the area.
I gacve him your number yesterday. |
