Well, I'm one steel player that is looking forward to the new year. I had a great 2004, but am ready to take on 2005. My vow is to have at least one new Cd, by me, pressed this year, if not two. Hold me to it!
I head out on the George Strait tour backing up Amber Dotson in January. A mighty fine singer and gal she is! When I'm done with that, I will go out with Mr. Buddy Jewell again. Now, you have to realize, Buddy is like a father to me, except that I'm older than he is. I don't think it has to do with his maturity, only my lack of it. Good times.
I have been looking at my gear and have decided to unload much of the unused stuff. Bruce Bouton scored one of my Stringmasters, the Alkire E-harp has gone to a better home, several amps are happier now that they have someone to make music with. I sent my son in San Francisco, a MINT Fender tele because he mentioned he wanted a guitar. Oh boy, there lots more to let go of, but I know I'm better for it. Bob, you WILL get donations for anything sold through this site. I'm just a little unorganized right now but will keep track.
Music, oh yeah, that's what this is all about. I almost forgot that this last year. I got so busy on tour, I never took the time to really expand musically. Not so for 2005. I will finish rebuilding the C neck on my latest D-12 Emmons P/P and start over on learning that neck again. We were friends in the past, that neck and I, but we drifted. It happens over time. Friends meet other people they have more in common with etc..... I say it's time to reconnect with those old friends, be they people or pedal steel tunings!
Have a very Happy New Year,
