Hi Rick, are you related to the Garrett's in Billings Montana of the famous Garrett Brother's Band? I think it is Bobbe that plays for Kenny Chesney. Please excuse my spelling if it is not accurate.

Hello Ken, as far as I know I'm not related to any Garrett's that far north. I have folks in Nashville and Texas. A steeler named Bobby Garrett was my dad.

No sir he's not. My dad passed away in 1999. He's a hall of famer and he wrote Rose City Chimes as well as played for alot of the old time country stars.

Rick is being tastefully modest about his Dad's accomplishments. Bobby Garrett was one of the giants of our instrument. He has been called the King of Thumbstyle, and he was that and a whole lot more.

Rick, I'm sorry to hear that. Certainly no disrespect intended. I apologize also that I was not aware of your dad's accomplishments. Just saw the name and thought of someone else. As I have stated before on other threads, being in Montana I am way out of the loop on players. It seems that many of you know each other personally. I can only wish that I knew you all the legends of steel.

No apology needed Ken. If I was way up there in Montana I would feel like I was out of the loop too. HA!! Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Rick
P.S. Thanks Bob for mentioning my dad and his career. It always touches me in a special way when someone remembers what a special person my dad was.
