want to hear the real deal!! Jake Hooker, Bobby Flores, Dickey Overbey, Jeff Croy. These fellows TORE IT UP at the Wichita Falls Elks Lodge Friday night!! They are top shelf all the way! They dressed professional-Western style black suit coats. Their sound was imaculate, they could be heard anywhere in the building, yet you could talk to your friends in a normal volume, with out having to shout. The dance floor stayed packed. They took one break all night. They pumped out shuffles and western swing tunes and waltzes one right after another, without dead time. Bobby and Jake's harmonies were spectacular! And Dicky was phenominal on "Rosie", the '66 Emmons. And Jeff on drums------wow!! Amazing all this spectacular music, and NO 6 string GUITAR! And During break, all these musicians were more than happy to share comments about the music, ect. What amazed me the most, that four guys, one on drums, and three on intonation nightmare instruments, held such a tight show. Jake played upright bass, Bobby on fiddle, and Dickey on steel, and they all blended in tune perfectly. What a night! My son and I are very inspired by these fine musicians! Way down Texas Way!! I may try to post some pics later.

James I am also a Texas music fan. I would like to know why it is ok to mix the fiddle and steel upfront in Texas but it is a sin in Nashville. When you listen to those guys albums the music is just as important as the vocals.

Craig, Near as I can tell, Texas pickers and those who love Texas music don't give a rat's bee hiney what the suits in the "Nashville Machine" think ought to be force fed to the public as the latest trend. We gonna play our music anyways! Those that love to listen to Texas Swing and real Country shuffles and such will continue to find us.

What's up James. Well, I got to hear Bobby and Dickie also this weekend. I was playing at a club just down the street from Jake Hooker and company. As soon as I got through, I rushed over there and caught the end of their show. I got to stand right next to Dickie for about 30 minutes and watch him play. Not only is he a great player, but a very nice guy. He and Bobby are a class act. What a great band!
Dickie was getting a great tone with that old '66 P/P.
