Dear Friends,

Rattlesnake Annie has released a new album called "Rattlesnake Annie Sings Willie Nelson". The album focusses a lot on Annie's voice, similar to some of Willie's famous recordings like "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain". 9 of the 11 songs have no steel or dobro but...

Lloyd Green is playing dobro on "Shotgun Willie" and beautiful steel on "So Much To Do". There are only three instruments used on this song, bass, acoustic guitar and steel. Lloyd's solo is...well, I don't find a better term, simply beautiful!

Lloyd Green has that great sound, got to love it. What happened,I read that he had a hearing accident and gave up playing for some time. Did he over come his hearing problem? He still sounds great,I'm glad he is playing again. Joe

Joe,

The ear problem forced Lloyd into semi-retirement in the late 1980's.

We are all excited that he returned to doing sessions in the last few years - he didn't lose a bit of his musical genius (just think of the great Johnny paycheck-Tribute album and his awesome solo project "Revisited"!).

Please refer to www.lloydgreentribute for more biographic information on Lloyd.

Kind Regards, Walter

I was fortunate to be at a party in Nashville in September where most of the Steel players were..the first person to come up and shake my hand was Lloyd....he seemed fine...in fact..if I remember right he was pulling my leg...I'll let him get away with that!!!!...most of the others were there too.........I noticed that one or two were just a little hard of hearing.....I am told due to a lot of times sitting with the cans on in the studio.

Wow, that's really pretty. Does anyone know if Mr. Green is planning on doing another album? It's been over a year since Revisited was released and I'm chomping at the bit for some new music from him.

Hello.
This was a great solo-one of the finest steel solo`s to come out for a long time!
Lloyd at his finest, reminds me of the beautiful solo`s he did with Ricky Skaggs back in the 80`s.Tasteful is what I call it!.I had to sit down and try to figure it out on my steel.I did,but Lloyds touch and tone can not be copied, somewhat close, but the original always stand out.
One of Lloyd`s finest in a long time! And he got ALOT of them!!!
Best from Egil.

Wow! It goes without saying that the tone is to die for, but what creativity! Lloyd's phrasing is so fresh and unique. I could sit and listen to this clip all day! Simply wonderful.

Respectfully,

I think master Lloyd has "sneaked" one in on us in the first couple of bars of this fine solo. I detect a little of ETs "Waltz Across Texas" in the opening lick.
