From time to time, Paul's name appears here on the forum. A number of photo's have also been display of his steel guitars......but do ANY of YOU, have any idea where any of his Mandolins might have come to rest after all of these years? Just curious. Other than the one attached to Thomas Grady Martin's old Bigsby guitar, I've never seen a single one of his Mandolins.
Just curious..........as steel players in the know, I tho't perhaps one of you might be hiding one under your bed or somewhere. |

Tiny Moore had one, Paul Buskirk had one as well, and I want one!
Tiny's was on display at the 'Bob Bullok Museum' here in Austin Tx. for I while, but I also saw it at the 'Country Music Hall of Fame' in Nashville, a few years ago.

Ray,
There's one here in Jefferson City, in fact I have a picture of it somewhere. Owned by a fellow named Johnny Musick, a local DJ some years ago.

I think Dave Westerbeck, in San Fransisco, has one. |

Yep, Dave has one, it was pictured in a Vintage Guitars calender two years back. It didn't have a name, so dunno who it was built for. Then there was a guy named "Al" something, who played with Jack Parsons ( guitar ) and Bob Meadows ( steel ). They all had Bigsby instruments. Jack played the same hollowbody Bigsby, that Merle is playing on the Snader tele transcriptions. And in fact there exists a photo of Paul Bigsby himself on bass with this same band!! Merely for posing or did he actually play, I don't know.
Paul Buskirk's mando is in the Chinery collection, btw. |
