Did Jerry promote a Japanese steel guitar? Someone on ebay has a poster of him holding a Ricenbacker! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2580539165&category=1074

The Guitar JB is holding is his famous 7 string prewar Rick bakelite. If I am not mistaken this guitar is presently in his daughters' possession in Nashville.

He recorded many many sessions on this guitar. It has been said to have one of the greatest sounds ever. He also used this guitar on his classic "HiFi Guitar" album cut in the 50's. That album is my all time favorite of Jerry's. I do not believe he has ever made a better recording.

Did he promote a Japanese steel guitar? Not that I know of. Excel (in Japan) does make two steel guitars that Jerry approved of. But whether he promotes the guitar I don't thinks so. But maybe.

Carl.........isn't his original SIX STRING Rick in the country music hall of fame along with his Volu-Tone amp? I believe I have a snapshot or recently saw one of it there.
