Could someone who has actually emailed the Sierra steel guitar company,(since they have re-opened) please email me the correct email address. Sierrasteelguitars@earthlink.net does not work. Thank you |

That's the correct address. You spelled Sierra wrong in the title of this topic. Maybe you did the same thing when you typed the email address. Try this link: sierrasteelguitars@earthlink.net |

Tom Baker (Mr. Sierra Guitars) is located in Molalla, Oregon. I lack detailed, personal information and no authorization either from Mr. Baker or one of our Forumitites who told me to basically keep out of Sierra's business, to display what I do know, here on the Forum, but since the town is a one traffic light community embracing all three colors in the traffic signal light, General Delivery to the Post Master might possibly get it to Tom. One never knows, does one? |

Hey Gang,
Here's the Sierra info from Tom Baker:
Tom Baker / Sierra Steel Guitar Co. LLC
P.O. Box 681
Molalla, Or 97038-0681
Work Phone: 503-759-3155
email: sierrasteelguitars@earthlink.net
Ray,
Have you been out to the new Sierra shop yet?
It's really nice!
Now that Sierra is up and running again with our buddy Tom at the helm, I'm reccomending you buy a new Sierra 6-string Hawiian Steel Guitar!
I'm thinking that that kind of business would be welcomed!

Hi Roy,
Give Tom a ring at the shop for exact directions.
I've only been out there once so far, and I don't have the names of the local highways and streets in that area memorized yet.
It's a few blocks out of down town Molalla, on the main drag.

Well Pete.....is it your opinion that a new Sierra six string, lap top, steel string, pedal-less, slide guitar would make me any more acceptable to a listening audicence...?

It's a steel guitar, Ray...
Not a magic wand .
But yeah...
I think it would be great if you called Tom and placed an order for a new Sierra instrument!
What better endorsement of Tom's labors.

I offered to help with the Sierra web site but Tom said that the owner "has it in the works."

Actually,I last visited Tom Baker at Sierra when things were falling apart for the former owner I happened into Tom's work area with him. Those Lap Steels were FINE pieces of craftsmanship. I'd REALLY like to see that his craftsmanship is now in control of their PSGs and hear it's results.
I don't think having one could hurt anybody's acceptability level.
Developing a determination for playing one in public is the best way. The more the better.
Especially in the face of insurmountable odds or negative comments by your peers.
A magic wand would work, but only if you believe in the magic..

Wow, in one string I find out that Sierra is NOT dead and that there are a bunch of steel pickers in my neighborhood that I don't know about. You'all give me a shout sometime, hear? I've been playing some with Joni Harms out of Canby, that's just down the road from Molalla. Not too many streets in that town, maybe I can find the new shop.

Hi Dave. There's a bunch of us. Doug Jones lives in Canby and works regularly weekends, Myelf, I live in Ptld, and play every weekend. Pete B plays similarly, Larry Behm, Dale Grandstrom, Pete Martell, Wes Bakken, Robin Suskind, Felix James, and a couple others that pick a lot too. There are a couple non-active players too, but I forget their names..
I missed the JH show I fear, but I used to record at Rex from time to tine in the 80s and played a lot with Tenly and Gary in the 90s.
I've got a couple weekends at the Flying M, a weekend at Spurs in Vanwa, one more at the M, and on to the 17-18 at Jubitz. Full calendar pretty much thru mar so far. I'll have a website with dates pretty soon.
Welcome.
