| Buddy I first heard you play Blue Jade about 1970. After hearing you play that song I had no idea what instrument you were playing but it is the reason I took up the pedal steel. I have spent over 30 wonderful years trying to play and improve everytime I sit down to play. My life has been much more gratifying since I started playing this instrument. Would you please tell us the story behind this wonderful song? Everytime you play it you do something special with it. Thanks Buddy for all the enjoyment you have given us all. Fred Rushing. |

| Blue Jade Is the #1 reason I bought Mel Bay's "Anthology of Pedal Steel Guitar" by DeWitt Scott, The tabs for the song are on pages 146 thru 151,some kind of pedal work. WHAT A SONG Buddy, you need to write another one like it. I will be the first one in line to buy it. Ron |

| One thing that I notice is that many of Buddy's beautifull songs, like Blue Jade, Danny Boy, Greensleeves are simple to play (that is to play the notes correctly, getting the right expression is something else...), while eg. a Lloyd Green song is much more complicated. Still they are amazingly beautifull. |

What I have found is that Buddy's stuff *sound* difficult, but once you figure it out, it is not only simple, but takes your playing to a new plateau.
Lloyd's stuff, on the other hand, *sounds* easy, and is usually a bear to play-- since Lloyd uses odd grips, and finds notes in strange places.
Blue Jade is a wonder! Great tune!

From the day I heard Blue Jade it is the only sound I hear when I play, always using it as a bench mark. I can not get that hard but get in the ball park. The emotion and expression Buddy used equally blew me away and it too affects the way I approach my playing. Thanks Buddy, that one song is the magical moving musical moment moving me daily.

Is the tab to Blue jade on Ricky's page or anywhere else on the web? If it is only in Mel Bay's "Anthology", is that tab exactly what Buddy plays?

I agree with Winnie on the difference in these 2 player in that buddy's sound more difficult to play and Lloyd's sound easy but I have had my trouble with learning both and feel so good when I get them.I also love Blue Jade and find it one of my favorite tunes to play.RS
