Hello
I have many albums by a Steel/Guitar duo named "Dan & Dale".Santo & Johnny style duo. Just curious-who was the steeler of the two,and what was his last/full name?
Sincerely-Egil. |

Funny thing is that when I looked it up on allmusic.com there is in fact a listing for D & D. The list of names involved grabbed my attention because it is a group of guys who meant a lot to me in the 60's as founders/members of the Blues Project--one of them was my next door neighbor so I sort of idolized them when I was a kid--combined with members of the Sun Ra Arkestra?--too weird!!---but from the description it clearly is not the D & D you are asking about. |

Grrrr, that's a real brain drainer but I think Dan & Dale were popular back during the surfing craze of the 60;s about the time of the Beach Boys, the Ventures, and those guys
A guitar duo, I think I found most of their music on one of the el-cheapo albums of the era, Crown Records I think is where I found their music. come to think of it, I think Crown Records is where I found most of my Red Rhodes albums too. After that, I draw a blank. Maybe this will jump start someone else's memory.

Hello John.
You are right so far, only that their albums was on Diplomat and Tifton, not Crown. That was as you said-Red Rhodes.
I am still curious who was the steeler of the two,and his full name.Someone has to know!?

The "Dan" was none other than the famous Danny Kalb (he also did the obscure "Batman" record album, which has a couple of good cuts on it if you can overlook the goofy "cartoon" sound effects). I'd guess the steel was played by Mitch Greenhill, as he played steel, and also worked with Danny occasionally. I've heard of the Dan & Dale Hawaiian album before, but I've never seen it, or seen any written reference to it. It must be a very rare one! |

Hey, how about that! Then I'm back to my previous post--Danny was the neighbor I was talking about. I assumed this angle was a false lead. |

Hi.
Thanks to all of you. There are at least 20 albums by Dan & Dale on the Diplomat label,+ the one on Tifton. The stuff mainly consist of film themes and evergreenes, etc.
I am not sure if you are on the right track boys, but I don`t know.
Someone else who know more??
Best from Egil. |
