Anyone know who played the PSG stuff on the Rolling Stones song "The Worst" off of Voodoo Lounge?

It's real nice. Could that be ol' Ronnie Wood?! If so, he practiced a lot since "Far Away Eyes"!

From what I could find out on the web, it does indeed look like it's Ronnie Wood. He's credited with "pedal steel guitar" on several websites..

Hi Greg

Indeed it is Ronnie Wood, he has been playing steel and listed on the credits, I like the Stones and the steel works well with some of their songs, I kinda think they should have used it on "Angie"..

Ronnie played a lap steel on the HBO Special last year, I forget what tune they were playing though.

Ronnie always sounded like a guitarist-who-sometimes-dabbles-with-steel sort of player to me, but the steel playing on "The Worst" sounds like a real steel player. I guess Ronnie's made some progress!

He was playing a single neck Emmons last year on the "40 Licks" tour. Not much to speak of from a "pro steel" perspective, but a small part of a still amazing Rock and Roll show! Whatever else one thinks of them. Keith Richards and Charlie Watts together seem to me to be the embodiment of true R&R... music/feel first; let somebody else do the showbiz bull****!
