This Thursday I'll be going to see Mike Friend play steel live with Gary Allan at the Georgia Theater here in Athens. I'm super-stoked! This will be my second time seeing them perform live. If the first time was an indication, this show is going to be excellent. I can't wait to hear some of those licks!

Thanks Tim!

Yes, he really is a very good player. Even from my limited knowledge of the instrument, I could tell. Only a few hours left! Alright!

Had a blast seeing Mike again. Got to chat with him a bit before the show. He sends his hellos to the SGF. That GFI still sounds great, and how about his work on baritone guitar? Great stuff!

I met Mike back in 2000 when Gary Allan performed in Spartanburg, SC. He was playing a Sho-Bud Super Pro back then. This was before he started playing GFIs. Gary's song "Smoke Rings In The Dark" had just been released. I had just started playing steel, and when I told Mike that I play steel, he said he's glad I'm playing. I met a few members of Gary's band, The Honky Tonk Wranglers. Mike is a great steel picker! Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel
