Who was Tammy Wynett's road player, and who played on her recordings?

On the records: Lloyd Green and Pete Drake can be heard on almost all of her records, Lloyd played on several of her early records ("Lonely Street" and the #1s "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" and "Till I Get It Right"), Pete played on most of her records in the late 60's and 70's ("Stand By Your Man", "Bedtime Story", "I Still Believe In Fairy Tales"). Both made these records outstanding, IMO, because of their incredible taste, to know exactly what needs to be played to enhance the voice and the song.

For the road players: Didn't Sonny Curtis play for her a couple of years? Also, I think Mike Douchette was with her sometimes in the 80's.

Kind Regards, Walter

So is that Pete Drake on Apartment No. 9? I've always loved the steel on that.

According to Donny Hinson in a post dated Feb 2004 it was Pete Drake.

Sorry, but I have no idea yet how to put the nice link to a prior post into this posting. Gotta reprint b0b's nifty UBB notes again...

Bought the "Tammy Wynette Greatest Hits" CD a year ago for that tune alone. Play the heck out if it too.
