Yesterday about three PM I decided to change my C6 neck to Don Helms Cope
1. G#
2. E
3. C#
4. B
5. G#
6. E
7. D
8. B
9. G#
10.
Went to play last night without trying the new tuning, used it 3/4 of the night , the lead guitar player said he enjoyed the sound and the playing. It is not like I had never used the tuning before it is on that Don Helms gave me years ago and I played it in the 40s and 50s but not since. It was like meeting an old friend, I will use it for a while. It has some C6 stuff built into it, I may even adjust some pedals to go with it, using the 3rd string knee lever now.
Fell in love again with this thing.

If you add some pedals and knee levers to this tuning, the following might be interesting:

1 2 3 LKL LKR RKL RKR

G# A A
E
C# D
B C# Bb
G# G A
E F#
D C#
B C# Bb
G# G A
E

Since this is a 6th based tuning, I see no need for an E to Eb lever. Also the E to F lever may prove helpful but still not sure you will need it with this base setup.

If you like Don Helms playing, this will give you much to embellish it and some good resolves I think will ensue.

Then again ya might do it entirely different. But good luck in whatever you do. May Jesus bless you in your quests,

carl

Carl-It looks like you got all the right pedals there for a E6-E9 tuning.

It looks a lot like part of my E6 universal tuning that I have been using since I got the idea from Alvino Rey back in about 1939.It is a good one....al
