We of pedal-pro received some requests to publish an article about steel player Sneaky Pete. My request to one of you forum members. Who could, and would you like to write an extended article about Sneaky Pete for the PPU site? We would appreciate this very much.
Thanks in advance

I wrote an article on Sneaky many years ago for Tom Bradshaws Steel Guitar magazine. I interviewed him for it. If you're interested contact Tom. |

Sneaky Pete is a very shy man who prefers not to be in the spot light.
I once wrote him and got a little note from him.
Later on I met Sneaky Pete Kleinow,if he stll lives in Burbank,CA I can give you his adress(although it has been 20 years ago). |

Joe,
That was a great article, I have reread it many times. Sure would be cool if you could get another interview of Sneaky Pete of his life currently instead of what his views were 25 years ago. |

In 1961 I was playing lead guitar 4 nights a week with Pete in Escondido. He didn't have a guitar when we got the job, so I let him use my Fender 400. Pete agreed to buy my fender so he could add some pedals.
He brought that 400 back the next week and it looked like a porcupine with all those rods and pedals. Pete played songs that I would never dream of playing on a steel guitar. He was different and outstandingly talented.
Scotty said when he saw Pete in Reno a few years ago, he thought he was still playing that guitar. ......... JD |
